Q .: is there a Linux (UNIX, BSD) version of your client?
There is no Unix / Linux version of our Client software. Our Client software runs only on Windows. Our RBS Client software will back up Unix/Linux computers that can be seen as a shared resource in a Windows network.
Our Windows Client will, however, back up Linux files that are available as shares to Windows computers. (also see below)

Q .: can I run backup client software on a Linux box?
SPECIAL NOTE: The following procedure was developed by an RBS Beta Team member. It has NOT been approved for general use. This article is only for use as a basis for experimenting with running RBS in a Linux environment. At the present time this is not an official recommendation, and ISecureDat can not offer any real support for running our software on Linux system other than this article.
1st solution:
- Install Samba (www.samba.org) on the Linux server (or unix) and backup the data using the client software installed on a networked Windows machine.
2nd solution:
- Install Win4lin on your Linux server - Win4lin allows your Windows apps to see the Linux file system - then install the remote client software and use it as usual.
